To describe your company, job role, and daily responsibilities clearly and factually.

Lesson 1:
Broken Record
Networking in London.
Imagine you are at a networking event in London. Someone asks: “So, what do you do?”. If you hesitate or use the wrong tense, you sound uncertain about your own job. You need a “broken record” set of facts about your professional life.
The Present Simple for things that are permanent or happen regularly.
We use the Present Simple for things that are permanent or happen regularly. It is your “Fact Sheet”.
- Intent: To show stability and routine.
- Key Rule: Add an -s for he/she/it (The company operates…).
- Examples:
- I manage a team of six developers.
(Eu gerencio uma equipe de seis desenvolvedores.) - Our company provides cloud solutions.
(Nossa empresa fornece soluções em nuvem.)
- I manage a team of six developers.
Now let’s have some Active Practice.
- Substitution: Change the sentence “I work with clients” to “My manager…”
- Sentence Creation: Write one sentence about your main responsibility using: “I am responsible for…”.
- Role-play: Briefly describe your company’s main product to a potential partner.
Checkpoint!
Explain your job in two sentences to a new colleague. Ensure you use the “s” if you mention your boss or your company.

Next: Lesson 2: Present Continuous.
We will learn how to update colleagues on current, temporary projects and activities happening right now.
