Aqui está um pouco de vocabulário a fim de falar sobre seu estado (civil). Por Exemplo:

I am married.
Eu sou casado(a).

I have a husband / I have a wife.
Eu tenho um marido/Eu tenho uma esposa.

Sarah (a woman) is married to David. (a man)
Primeiramente: Sarah (uma mulher) é casada com David. (Um homem)

Sarah is the wife of David
Ou então: Sarah é a esposa de David

David is the husband of Sarah
Ou então: David é o marido de Sarah.

I am engaged. (I will get married soon)
Eu estou noivo(a) (Portanto: Eu me casarei logo)

I am single. (no husband / no wife)
Por Exemplo: Eu sou solteiro(a). (Portanto, eu estou sem esposa/sem marido)

I have a partner. (there is an important person in my life, but maybe we aren’t married)
Por Exemplo: Eu tenho um parceiro(a). (Tem alguém importante na minha vida, mas talvez não sejamos casados)

I have a girlfriend. (a girl / woman “important” friend, but we aren’t married)
Ou então: Eu tenho uma namorada. (uma garota/ mulher amiga “importante”, mas não somos casados)

I have a boyfriend. (a boy / man “important” friend, but we aren’t married)
Por Exemplo: Eu tenho um namorado. (um garoto/homem “importante”, mas não somos casados)

I am divorced. (I was married, but not now)
Eu sou divorciado. (Eu era casado, mas não agora.)

I am separated. (I don’t live with my husband / wife, and perhaps we will get divorced soon)
Ou então: Eu estou separado. (Portanto, eu não vivo com meu marido/esposa e talvez me divorcie logo)

Falando sobre pessoas da sua família
Eis algumas palavras a fim de falar de seus parentes. Por Exemplo:

Primeiramente: mother Mãe
My mother’s name is Sandra. (mother‘s name = the name of my mother)
O nome da minha mãe é Sandra . (Mother´s name=onome da minha mãe)

Em Segundo Lugar: father Pai
My father’s name is Robert.
O nome do meu pai é Richard

Em Terceiro Lugar: sister Irmã
My sister’s name is Sarah.
O nome da minha irmã é Sarah

Em Seguida: brother Irmão
My brother’s name is David.
O nome do meu irmão é David.

Logo Depois: child / children Criança/Crianças
I have one child. / I have two children.

Eu tenho uma criança/eu tenho duas crianças.
(child / children = boy or girl) (Criança/crianças=garoto ou garota)

Então: son Filho
My son’s name is Richard.
O nome do meu filho é Richard

Por Fim: daughter Filha
My daughter’s name is Rebecca.
O nome da minha filha é Rebecca.

My father has a sister. His sister’s name is Maria.
Primeiramente: Meu pai tem uma irmã. O nome da irmã dele é Maria

My mother has a sister. Her sister’s name is Eve.
E então: Minha mãe tem uma irmã. O nome dela é Eve.

Maria is my aunt.
Portanto: Maria é minha tia.

Eve is my aunt.
Nesse sentido: Eve é minha tia.

My father has a brother. His brother’s name is Henry.
Por Exemplo: Meu pai tem um irmão. O nome dele é Henry.

My mother has a brother. Her brother’s name is William.
Em Seguida: Minha mãe tem um irmão. O nome dele é William.

Henry is my uncle and William is my uncle.
Portanto: Henry é meu tio e William é meu tio.

The parents of my father and my mother are my grandparents.
Por exemplo: Os pais do meu pai e da minha mãe são meus avôs.

The father of my father (and the father of my mother) is my grandfather.
Ou seja: O pai do meu pai (e o pai da minha mãe) é meu avô.

The mother of my father (and the mother of my mother) is my grandmother.
E também: A mãe do meu pai (e a mãe da minha mãe) é minha avó.

My son is the grandson of my parents.
Portanto: Meu filho é o neto dos meus pais

My daughter is the granddaughter of my parents.
Minha filha é a neta dos meus pais.

The children of my aunt and the children of my uncle are my cousins.
Por Exemplo: As crianças da minha tia e as crinças do meu tio são meus primos.

The son of my brother (or my sister) is my nephew.
Então: O filho do meu irmão (ou irmã) é meu sobrinho.

The daughter of my brother (or my sister) is my niece.
Por Fim: A filha do meu irmão (ou irmã) é minha sobrinha.
